Dr. William G. Wee

Dr. Wee obtained his B.S.E.E. from Mapua Institute of Technology, Philippines in 1962, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University in 1965 and 1967, respectively. From 1967 to 1971, he worked with the Systems and Research Center of Honeywell, Inc. He joined the ECE Department at the University of Cincinnati in 1971 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1977. He was on leave to Harvard University in the Fall of 1985. He was the Associate Head of the Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program in 1999. He was the Graduate Director of the department (2006 -2015).

Research Interests

Dr. Wee's research interests are in the general area of artificial intelligence and computer vision. The former includes artificial neural networks and pattern recognition, while the latter includes 3-D filtering, solid and surface extraction and representation, reverse engineering using range and CT data, color picture and video compression, applications of 3-D data processing to machine inspection and manufacturing quality control, and biomedical applications.

Dr. Wee is a senior life member of the IEEE.
