Receiving Messages

User applications receive messages by using this receive routine of TCPMPL. If the user application is synchronous in nature, then the destination process will know a priori the size of the message and the source process from which it is going to receive the message. If the user application is asynchronous in nature, then the destination process will not know a priori the size of the message and the source process from which it is going to receive the message. Therefore, the two scenarios are:

• Synchronous user application will call the receive routine of the TCPMPL library for a message of a particular size from a particular sender process.
• Asynchronous user application probes TCPMPL for any message and then calls receive routine of TCPMPL to receive the message.
