Below, you can download a few movies of working OLEDs made on Glass ITO and flexible substrates.
All these OLEDs used (Alq3 as an electron transport layer, and various conducting organic compounds
as the hole transport layer. The devices were fabricated by a senior student, Viktorija Cecil,
as part of her senior project in collaboration with a Ph.D student, Kalyan Garre.

The two leftmost pictures are from flexible ITO substrates on which some of the flexible OLEDs were fabricated.
The rightmost picture is of Viktoriha Cecil holding her first working flexible OLED,
as part of her senior projec, as part of her senior project. Yoohoo!

Recently, we were successful in making OLEDs with cathodes made of Au/rare-earth monosulfides thin films. We have shown that the LaS cathodes are composed of nanocrystals with (100) orientation with a low work function (of about 1 eV) embedded in a matrix of amorphous material. The emission from the cathode into the organic materials can be understood using a model of nanocrystals with low work function outcropping the surface of the cathode.
