The simulations below show the time dependence
of the charge density, convection current and electrostatic potential
energy across the air gap of a Metal/CdS/LaS cold cathode. The
results are shown for a cathode with a 75A wide CdSl layer.
A full description of the cathode and numerical resutls can be found
in P.Mumford and M. Cahay, "Space-Charge Effects and Current
Self-Quenching in a Metal/CdS/LaS cold cathode", to appear
in the Journal of Applied Physics (August 1998). The simulations
are shown past the transient. The LaS thin film and the anode
are the leftmost and rightmost points on the x axis.
The period of the oscillations correspond to a frequency of 56 Ghz.
