Activities and Events:

Agenda:

We aim to continue the good work done by the previous ECECS GSA committee (2006-07) and intend to be an active body for the welfare of graduate students in the department. Some items on our agenda include:

  1. GSGA representation and Travel Funds:
    • Represent the CS department in the Student Governance Association (GSGA). Facilitate reimbursement of travel funds for graduate student conference travel.
  2. CS Graduate Poster Competition:
    • Provide a forum to the graduate students to display their research work and ideas. Graduate students advanced in their research get an opportunity to display their fine work. Graduate students beginning their research get an excellent platform to obtain expert feedback on their ideas and review work in other areas.
  3. Plenary talks by distinguished Professors:
  4. Additional Fund Drives:
  5. Exam week Coffee Break:
  6. Graduate Mixers and Other "fun" activities:
    • We will be organizing events such as graduate mixers and movie nights with the sole intention of having "fun" to reduce the stress among graduate students and also to improve the interaction among students.
  7. Providing information and resources:
    • We will be informing about the several resources available at UC that aren't always known to and used by the students - such as workshops, seminars, and other events.
  8. Improve interaction, get feedback from students and act on them:
    • We intend to encourage student participation and to have a forum where students will be able to voice their opinions or concerns.
